Ron Gallihugh serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of DTIS. In this role, Ron oversees the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of DTIS.
Before joining DTIS, Ron served as the Transportation Security Administration's Deputy Executive Assistant Administrator for Enterprise Support. In this role, he provided direction and oversight for TSA’s execution of human capital, training and development, inspection, acquisition program management, contracts and procurement, information technology, professional responsibility, and security and administrative services efforts.
Previously, Ron served as the TSA Deputy Assistant Administrator for Acquisition Program Management and Acting Assistant Administrator for Contracting and Procurement. As such, he was responsible for leading and providing oversight for TSA’s formal Level 1, 2 and 3 acquisition programs totaling $3 billion in effort, as well as leading 170 plus acquisition contracting professionals responsible for obligating and procuring goods and services valued at nearly $2 billion annually.
Ron started at TSA in 2009, serving as Director of Acquisition Policy in the Office of Acquisition. He led development of the Office of Acquisition’s knowledge management system known as the “One-Stop-Shop” and the development of an oversight system. He later served as the Director of the Security Technology Acquisition Division, which supported the Office of Security Capabilities in the acquisition, deployment, test and evaluation, and sustainment of TSA’s screening technology capabilities.
Ron began his career as a Contracting Officer within the Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command, where he was responsible for the acquisition planning, solicitation, and negotiation of U.S. Navy contracts for major weapon systems and other strategic efforts. He also served as a Deputy Program Manager and Business Manager at a major defense contractor, supporting various U.S. Air Force and Defense Information Systems Agency business development, capture, and program implementation efforts.
Ron received an undergraduate degree in Public Administration from George Mason University. He has also earned an Advanced Project Management Certificate from Stanford University, and completed Business Resource Management training at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Gallihugh’s professionalism, commitment, and dedication to the acquisition profession have been recognized through numerous certifications and awards throughout his career.
